Thursday 17th and Friday 18th of November saw 3 contestants from series 3 of Interior Design Masters back in Salisbury. Why? To work on 3 new window displays for 3 other independent businesses. Now, unlike the actual show, this wasn't filmed and was more of a passion project in collaboration with the city. The three businesses involved were Maul's Wine and Cheese Bar, Allum and Sidaway, and Captive Worlds. On Friday evening I was invited down for a tour of the windows as well as a Q&A with the designers themselves to hear them discuss all things interiors, the show, and their plans for the future...
Maul's Wine and Cheese Bar by Fran
The first window we saw was Fran's festive creation at Maul's. I mean, is there anything more Christmassy than a massive wreath and fairy lights?! The design is simple yet SO effective. I love the little touches you notice only when you get a little closer. Take the little presents made out of wine bottle corks - what a fab nod to their business and a great example of using what you already have. We love a bit of sustainability! Fran also mentioned in the Q&A that she'd suggested switching out the baubles on the wreath for Easter decorations etc meaning it can get more than a month and a half's use per year.
If you'd like to take a look yourself, Maul's Wine and Cheese Bar is located at: 3 Fish Row, Salisbury SP1 1EX
Captive Worlds by Dean
Being a specialist aquascaping and terrarium shop, the very green and natural design fits perfectly for Captive Worlds. Each of the hanging baubles contains greenery and a few of them also have fairy lights in too. The lanterns and logs along the bottom of the window were also new additions and will absolutely work all year round. I love what Dean did with this shop window, it's a total change from what they had previously!
If you'd like to take a look yourself, Captive Worlds is located at: 83-85 Crane St, Salisbury SP1 2PU
Allum & Sidaway by Amy
Amy, who was a finalist in the series created the display for Allum & Sidaway. Each of the paper trees along the bottom of the display she made by hand as well as the tasseled cushions. But, the star of her window display has to be the wallpaper. With the arches from the cathedral as well as the brand's colours, Amy designed this bespoke wallpaper herself for this project. I mean, the jewellery sat in the window was already more than pretty enough but I love this classy but festive upgrade!
If you'd like to take a look yourself, Allum & Sidaway is located at: 20-22 Minster St, Salisbury SP1 1TF
And there we have it, a whistlestop tour of the Festive Windows created by designers from series 3 of Interior Design Masters. Now that the Christmas Market and all of the other festive activities have opened in the city, it's a great time to head down and check out everything that is going on as well as all of the windows!
