Okay, I'll admit it, we might have cheated on the fourth night of our Europe Roadtrip. We maybe didn't sleep in the van... Instead, we stayed at Camping Kockelscheuer in one of their pods and it was so cosy. We'd planned to stay at the campsite anyway, and seeing as we had two nights in Luxembourg it seemed rude not to, considering we were literally there already.
They call the pods their 'wine barrels' and at a measly £40 per night, they really are a must-do. The price includes use of all of their facilities and for us, a sleep in a real bed, which we were lowkey very pleased about. In the pod is a bed at the very back and there are benches and a foldaway table in the front. There is also a large picnic bench out the front, but unfortunately, it did pee down with rain whilst we were there. That said, the weather did make our stay in the pod all the more cosy.
Linen and pillows weren't included in the base price, but seeing as we had all of our own stuff with us anyway, we just used our own pillows and sleeping bag. But, if you wanted to use theirs it was very reasonably priced. Despite being nothing other than a cylindrical shed, the pod was a really fab experience and I'd highly recommend it.
The showers and toilets at the campsite were by far the best of the entire trip, so if you're not usually a fan of traditional camping, don't let that side of it all put you off. The only thing to note is that there are no cooking facilities etc in the pod, so if you're not taking a campervan, you'll need to make other arrangements for meals and teas & coffees etc. That said, there is an on-site bar and restaurant which was very busy. We didn't eat there but we did have a drink, and it was also very well priced! The staff were also really friendly and very helpful if and when we needed them.
Have you ever stayed in a glamping pod?
